Recently I got the chance to work with an amazing family once again photographing grandbaby #2! Another newborn baby girl! This family was amazing. The grandparents were part of the session as well which I always encourage. You will see a photo of the three generations of grandma, mom and baby at the bottom. It was a pleasure to capture these beautiful photos for them and I hope to work with them again in the future.
Previous to having the studio space I now have in Brea Ca. I only had my small studio space in Whittier Ca. that was lacking the space to be as creative as I wanted to be. Now that I have a dedicated photo studio with high ceilings and open space I can do so much more! Maternity sessions are such a different photo session from any other sessions but especially from a newborn photo session. I love to meet my client and photograph them while baby is still in the womb. It is a great time to get to know my client and make her feel beautiful. We capture some amazing images and then a few short weeks later we get to meet her baby and she already feels totally comfortable with me and knows that I am going to take care of the both of them.
Pregnancy is long but so short... before you know it your belly is gone and baby is in your arms. It is a different experience for everyone but for me personally I loved being pregnant and my biggest regret is not documenting my beautiful bump 10 and 12 years ago in this style. I wish I had images like this to look back on- hair and make up done and beautiful lighting and poses... back then it was more of a trend to do outdoor maternity sessions which are also beautiful and I still do outdoor sessions for my clients as well. I just think there is something really classic about an in studio posed maternity session. I guess it is more dramatic and artistic and I really love the look. I have a print of this mama on my wall in my studio on metal and it is stunning! If you are interested but on the fence about a maternity photography session in the studio, let me tell you that you might regret not doing it but you will never regret having these memories of the miracle work your body put in for your baby. Happy New Year everyone! Hope you had a great holiday break! Of course it all goes by way too fast. 2021 was a great year for Nicolenjoli Photography, I met so many amazing families and made a lot of progress in my business by moving into a larger studio space that is so much more accommodating to my clients. I took a maternity workshop that was really inspiring. I have been able to focus more on the creativity of my sessions which is the part I enjoy most, planning out the set ups and making each one special and unique. I hope that if anything sets me apart, it is that I put a lot of thought into my set ups and making them feel like me... if that makes sense.
I also just wanted to write a little bit about where we are in terms of covid as it is all around right now which was to be expected with the colder weather and everyone getting together for the holidays... I am open and am photographing newborns. I am still taking all the safety precautions and I am happy to say they seem to be working. When you book your session you have to agree to follow our studio policies as I am trying to keep my family healthy as much as you are.
