Orange County, California Newborn Photography | What to expect and how to plan for your Newborn session.

What can you expect and how can you plan for your Orange County Newborn Photography Session. Once you have booked your session and your baby arrives you will contact us to let us know and we will schedule a day and time for you to come in for your Newborn session. Before you arrive I ask that you please feed your baby and try to keep baby awake for about an hour or two before you arrive, this is just to get baby nice and sleepy for the session, it is totally expected that they will fall asleep in the car and that is fine. Dress your baby in something easy to undress out of such as a zip up onesie or a gown so we can try not to disturb if baby is fast asleep from the car ride.

Once you arrive you will undress baby and change diaper if it is wet and then you can feed a little more if necessary. At this point we can start the session. I ask parents to bring a bottle of milk with you and a pacifier. If you are breastfeeding, please steer clear of foods that might affect the baby, such as spicy foods, or caffeinated beverages like coffee, soda or tea.

If you do not use a bottle or pacifier we can work around it but it is strongly suggested to help make sure we know how much baby is eating, our goal is for baby to be cozy and content. Everything else you would bring such as diapers, wipes, bibs, hair brush, white noise, changing pad, etc... I have in my studio for you to use incase you forget.

We usually start our newborn sessions between 10:00 and 11:00 and I ask that you arrive on time and if you are going to be early or a little late please send a text to let us know.

If you are going to be photographed with your baby which I highly encourage you to do, I recommend you don't worry too much about your outfit as you will only be photographed from the waste up and the baby will be in your arms and covering most of your upper body. You can't go wrong if you wear soft neutral colors, just avoid bold colors, patterns and logos. Moms please remove any chipped nail polish as your fingers will likely show.

While we photograph the baby you are welcome to come into the studio and watch the process but I ask that you stay in the designated seating as the studio is dark and there are faux floors spread around as well as wires running across the room where we also move a giant light around. You are also welcome to wait in our waiting room where you can stream your favorite show, and relax on the couch. Most Newborn sessions take around 2 hours more or less so it's a nice little break for parents to not have to worry about baby. You will quickly confirm that all the reviews you read online are true and Nicole will handle your baby as if he/she were her own.
